The Weirdest Places in the World; a list of bizarre scenarios
|
Listverse has published a curious list of 10 places you don’t really want to visit. From the snake-infested jungle of the Ilha da Queimada Grande, Brasil, to the radiation poisoned Zone of Chernobyl, these are truly wonders of nature, perfect scenarios for some Heartbreak Motel films. These locations are enough to give almost any scenario a much darker twist. Whether it’s a game of Party Poker at a glamorous dinner party, or a car-chase from corrupt authorities, any scene is sure to seem twice as tense when shot against any one of these unpleasent backdrops. Tarkovsky’s Stalker is the only feature I know that has been inspired by one of these places with some catastrophic results. Prepare to be amased and, perhaps, thrilled to plan some vacations to the bizarre and dangerous. Top 10 Places You Don’t Want to Visit by Listverse |
The Big Sleep (1946)
Adapting Raymond Chandler’s confusing and hardboiled book is not for the faint of heart. Does Howard Hanks and Company deliver it? After we read the book, we watch the film.

The Big Sleep (1939)
The first novel by veteran crime writer Raymond Chandler pretty much invents the hardboiled genre of crime fiction. A tough but always clever plot that unfolds with dark twists that will test your street skills. First we read the book, then we watch the movie.

Bummer Summer (2010)
Few movie directors can be proud of achieving realism and artistic perfection. Zach Weintraub does this in his first feature. Shot on a ridicule budget and using a single DSLR camera that is perfectly balanced by Nandan Rao’s perfect black and white photography and using pretty much no written dialogue, Bummer Summer is a delicate surprise (…)

My Joy (2010)
Director Sergei Loznitsa’s first fiction is a deep journey through the alienation and Soviet remains on the remote population around Russia’s deepest villages. It’s also a journey of a man, Georgy, that gets lost in his cargo truck deep into the wilderness unable to find his way, just like the characters that he encounters, filled with desperate and starving violence and psyche.

The Night of the Hunter (1955)
The only directing effort from the actor Charles Laughton, this is a phenomenal exercise in style and narrative, one true classic that inspired many and is as frightening today and breathtaking as it was 60 years ago.

How is it that just a person know how to write down a site and grow as trendy as this? Its not like you’ve said something incredibly extraordinary –more similar youve painted a sweet picture over an topic that you know nothing about! I dont desire to appear mean, at this point. But do you in reality judge that you be capable to grow away with adding a number of beautiful pictures and not in reality exclaim anything?

Excellent blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

I’m having a small problem. I cannot subscribe to your rss feed for some reason. I’m using google reader by the way.
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
That is an interesting post, I’m looking forward to some of your other posts
